Track and Field Weekly Notes

March 5, 2002

THIS WEEK: Butler wrapped up its indoor track and field season at the Alex Wilson Invitational on Saturday, March 2, and the Bulldogs will take a break for a couple of weeks before starting their outdoor season. Butler's first outdoor competition will come at the Alabama Relays, March 21-24, in Tuscaloosa, Ala.

NEAR MISS: Butler junior Mark Tucker (Geelong, Australia) did not make the final field for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. Tucker, who was a provisional qualifier in both the 3,000 meter run and the 5,000 meter run, missed making the final NCAA field by one spot in two different events. Senior Justin Young (Peoria, Ill.), who was a provisional qualifier in the 5,000 meter run also did not make the cut for the NCAA meet.

Alex Wilson Invitational Highlights: oJunior Mark Tucker set an Australia Indoor Track and Field national record in the 5,000 meter run by placing second in the event at the Alex Wilson Invitational in 14:02.32.
