Butler To Host Open Outdoor Track & Field Meets

Butler University will host two open outdoor track & field competitions this season at the Michael A. Carroll Track & Field Stadium located on the campus of IUPUI in downtown Indianapolis. The world class facility has been the site of four World Records, one World Best mark and eight American records over the years. The stadium has played host to the U.S.S.R. vs. U.S. ('82), NCAA Championships ('85), Pan Am Games ('87) Olympic Trials ('88), and the World Police & Fire Games ('01).
The Butler Invitational (April 20) and Butler Twilight (May 4) are both Saturday meets. Field events will be held in the afternoon with running events to begin late afternoon and run into the evening. Meet information will be posted on www.butlersports.com.
"Our goal is to provide athletes with the best opportunity possible to excel in their respective events at one of the best track & field venues in the United States," said Butler Meet Director Nathan Smurdon.
Butler University will also play host to the Horizon League Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday & Friday, May 9 & 10.
Butler may add two additional meets on Friday, May 10 and Friday, May 17. Information on those competitions will be available in the near future.
