Scott Overall Named Horizon League Indoor Track Athlete of the Year

March 27, 2007

Butler senior Scott Overall has been named the 2007 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year for the second consecutive year. The Butler distance ace was selected for the top league award by a vote of Horizon League track and field coaches.

Overall became Butler's first indoor track All-American this season with a sixth place finish in the mile run at the 2007 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship. He also qualified for the 3,000 meter run at the national meet.

The indoor track award completed a year in which Overall swept the Horizon League's top track and cross country honors. He won the 2006 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year Award, after setting a meet record in the 1,000 meter run at the Horizon League Championship and finishing 12th in the 3,000 meter run at the 2006 NCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championship.

Overall then claimed 2006 Horizon League Outdoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year honors for the second consecutive year. He was the lone Horizon League athlete to earn a bid to the 2006 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championship, where he placed 11th in the 5,000 meter run.

Last fall, Overall was named Horizon League Cross Country Athlete of the Year, after winning the league individual title and placing 35th at the 2006 NCAA Cross Country Championship.

Butler runners have claimed the last four Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Male Athlete of the Year awards. Gary Blackman won the award in 2004 and Andrew Sherman claimed the honor in 2005. Overall owns the past two awards.

Bethany Anderson of Youngstown State was named the 2007 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Female Athlete of the Year. Anderson swept the throwing events at the 2007 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championship.
