Victoria Mitchell (senior) and Scott Overall (junior) each topped regional qualifying time standards at the Stanford Invitational hosted by Stanford University on Friday and Saturday, March 25-26 in Palo Alto, California.
Mitchell, who broke her own school record in the 5,000 meter run, recorded a time of 16:28.33 at Stanford. That effort bettered the previous school record of 17:08.46, set by Mitchell last season. Overall also advanced to regional competition after turning in a time of 14:12 in the 5,000 meter run.
Five other competitors also represented Butler in the California meet. Maria Beitel (sophomore) placed 15th (36:31.80) and John Frazer (senior) placed 32nd (29:29.05) after running the men's and women's 10,000 meter race, Andrew Sherman (senior) earned first place in his section of the 800 meter run with a time of 1:51.04. Thomas Frazer and Nick Goodliffe (senior) also ran the 5000 meter race. Frazer posted a time of 14:18.13, while Goodliffe recorded a 14:24.31.
The Bulldogs continue their season Saturday, April 2nd at DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana.
