Butler's Genni Gardner Named To All-Academic Squad

Butler track and field athlete Genni Gardner has been named to the 2005-06 ESPN The Magazine District V All-Academic Team, selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America). Gardner earned second team recognition on the women's track/cross country team. The District V honor squads were chosen from Division I athletes at schools in Indiana, Illinois, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Ontario and Manitoba.
To be eligible for Academic All-District consideration, athletes must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.00 scale, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
Gardner, a sophomore majoring in communications disorders, is a two-time All-Horizon League performer in cross country. She was named Horizon League cross country Newcomer of the Year in 2004, after placing ninth at the league championship meet. She placed second in the mile run at the 2006 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championship and finished third in the 5,000 meter run the league's Outdoor Championnship.
