June 10, 2004
The four Butler athletes entered in the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by the University of Texas will spend some extra time in Austin, Texas. The first day of the national meet was cancelled because of heavy rain and lightning, causing all events to be pushed back one day.
Under the revised meet schedule, three of Butler's four athletes will compete on Thursday evening, June 10. Junior Victoria Mitchell will participate in the women's 3,000 meter steeplechase preliminaries at 9 p.m. (CDT) on Thursday, with senior Gary Blackman following in the men's 3,000 meter steeplechase at 9:30 p.m. Junior Olly Laws will run in the men's 10,000 meter finals at 10:35 p.m., on Thursday.
