Butler Breaks Into Nation's Top 25

Sept. 28, 2004
The Butler women's cross country team has gained a national ranking for the first time ever. The Bulldogs, who placed sixth at the nationally-prominent Roy Griak Invitational, are ranked No. 20 in the latest FinishLynx/NCAA Division I Women?s Cross Country National Poll.
Butler, unranked a week ago, created a stir with the strong showing at the Roy Griak Invitational in Minnesota. The Bulldogs trailed only nationally-ranked teams Providence, Arizona State, UC Santa Barbara, Baylor and Arkansas at the 29-team meet.
The national ranking marks the first time in Butler history that the Bulldogs have had a men's and women's team in the same sport ranked at the same time! Butler's men stand 11th in the latest NCAA Division I Men's Cross Country Poll.
Butler's women also climbed to third in the Great Lakes Regional poll, trailing only Notre Dame and Michigan.
