Andy Baker Honored By Horizon League
Butler All-American Andy Baker, who again
established himself as one of the top male runners in the nation at
the ISU Pre-National Invitational, has been named Horizon League
Cross Country Male Athlete of the Week for the period October
12-18. It’s the third time this season he’s been
honored by the league.
Baker placed runner-up at the Pre-National Invitational, hosted by
Indiana State University on Oct. 17. He finished the 8K race
in 23:45.4, trailing individual champ Luke Puskedra of team winner
Oregon by five seconds. The 17-team race featured nine
nationally-ranked squads.
Baker is a two-time cross country All-American and a two-time
Horizon League Cross Country Athlete of the Year. He’s
placed first at the Horizon League Cross Country Championship for
two straight years. The senior standout has placed among the
top three individuals in each of his three races this fall.
Butler’s cross country squads will have a week off before
returning to action at the Horizon League Championship in Detroit,
Mich., on Oct. 31.
