Andy Baker Named Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Month
Butler’s Andy Baker, who set a blistering
pace on the cross country course and in the classroom, has been
named the Horizon League Male Scholar Athlete of the Month for
October. He’s the second consecutive Butler male
athlete to win the award this year.
Baker, who’s from Minehead, United Kingdom, posted three
consecutive “Top Three” individual finishes during the
month, including his third straight Horizon League
championship. He became the first athlete in Horizon League
history to win the league’s individual cross country title
outright in three successive years! His effort helped the
Bulldogs capture a 12th consecutive Horizon League team title.
The two-time cross country All-American also placed runner-up at
the Pre-National Invitational, featuring some of the nation’s
top cross country squads, and he placed third at the elite Notre
Dame Invitational. Baker was named Horizon League Male Cross
Country Athlete of the Week during October.
A second team Academic All-American last year, Baker boasts a 3.871
grade-point average as a graduate student working towards a
master’s degree in business administration. He’s
been named to the Horizon League All-Academic Team, the Horizon
League Academic Honor Roll and the Butler Athletic Director’s
Honor Roll.

Female Scholar-Athlete of the Month for October. The
women’s soccer standout is a mechanical engineering major
with a 3.95 grade point average.
