Bulldogs Post Top 12 Finishes At Great Lakes Regional
ROCHESTER, MICH. -- Sophomore Katie Clark and freshman Ross
Clarke turned in top individual efforts and Butler’s
men’s and women’s cross country squads both finished
among the “Top 12” teams at the 2010 Great Lakes
Regional hosted by Oakland University on Saturday, Nov. 13.
Butler’s men placed sixth of 31 teams, while the
women’s team came in 11th of 33 squads.
Clark led the Butler women with a 14th place individual finish in
21:00.5. Sophomore teammate Kirsty Legg finished close behind
in 18th place with a time of 21:11.2. Both runners earned
All-Region recognition.
Senior Marbeth Shiell was the third Butler runner across the
finish line, posting a time of 22:07.6 in 64th place. Junior
Lauren Haberkorn came in 94th in 22:35.2, while sophomore Kaitlyn
Love was 98th in 22:39.5. Sophomore Lauren McKillop placed
117th in 22:58.5 and junior Rebecca Howarth finished 131st in
23:08.8.
There were 231 total runners in the women’s
competition. Emily MacLeod of Michigan State won the
women’s individual title with a time of 20:18.8.
Clarke led Butler on the men’s 10K course with a time of
30:44.1, good for 18th place and All-Region recognition.
Senior Tom Boardman was the second Butler runner across the finish
line, placing 38th with a time of 31:20.6, while senior Kris Gauson
came in 52nd in 31:38.3.
Brothers Justin and Madison Roeder completed Butler’s
scoring quintet. Justin Roeder came in 55th in 31:41.4, while
Madison Roeder finished less than a second behind in 56th place
(31:42.1). Freshman Callum Hawkins was 59th in
31:48.8 and junior Matt Proctor came in 71st in 32:04.4.
The men’s race featured 216 competitors and was won by Eric
Finan of Cincinnati with a time of 30:25.4.
Michigan State won the women’s team title, finishing 16
points ahead of Michigan, while Wisconsin claimed the men’s
title, well ahead of runner-up Indiana.
