Butler Earns Cross Country Academic Recognition
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler’s men’s and
women’s cross country squads have been named 2011 Division I
Cross Country All-Academic Teams by the U. S. Track & Field and
Cross Country Coaches Association. The USTFCCCA announced its
academic honors this week.
Butler was one of three schools from the Horizon League to have
both its men’s and women’s squads named All-Academic
Teams. Loyola and Green Bay also had both teams honored.
The Bulldogs won a 13th consecutive Horizon League men’s
championship last fall and captured the league women’s title
for the eighth time in nine years. Butler is the all-time
leader in Horizon League cross country championships with 13
men’s titles and 12 women’s crowns.
To qualify for the honor, teams must have had a cumulative team
grade point average of 3.00 or better and have started at least
five runners at their respective NCAA regional championship.
