Bulldogs Open Season At Illini Challenge
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler will open the 2011 cross country
season at the Illini Challenge in Urbana, Illinois, on Friday,
Sept. 2. The Bulldogs will compete in both the men’s
and women’s races at the University of Illinois
Arboretum.
Head coach Matt Roe, beginning his fifth season with the Bulldogs,
will enter nine runners in the 6:30 p.m. (CT) women’s race,
which includes Illinois, Purdue, Danville Community College,
Hannibal LaGrange and the Illinois XC Club. Butler will have
six runners in the men’s race, slated to start at 7
p.m. Also competing in the men’s race will be Illinois,
Purdue, Danville Community College, Hannibal LaGrange, the Illinois
XC Club, Second Win and several unattached runners.
Butler’s men captured a 13th consecutive Horizon League
championship last fall, while the Butler women won the league crown
for the eighth time in nine years.
