PEORIA, ILL. -- Sophomore Ross Clarke ran the seventh fastest time in meet history and claimed the individual championship at the Eighth Annual Bradley Cross Country Classic, which was held Friday, Oct. 14, in Peoria, Ill.  Butler's men placed ninth in the competition, while Butler's women came in fourth.

Clarke covered the 8K layout at Newman Golf Course in 24:20.9 to pace the 150-runner field.  He out-raced Brogan Austin of team champ Drake, who finished runner-up in 24:21.7.  Both runners were well ahead of Ryan Rutherford of Illinois State (24:57) in third place.

Butler had just one other runner in the "Top 25" in the men's race.  Redshirt freshman Harry Ellis placed second for the Bulldogs and 24th overall with a time of 25:33.3.  Freshman Kodi Mullin finished 49th (48th in scoring) in 26:10.3, while sophomore Craig Jordan came in 104th (87th in scoring) in 26:57.9.  Freshman David Ford was Butler's fifth runner, finishing 121st (99th in scoring) in 27:19.8.

Rounding out Butler's top seven were seniors Matt Proctor, who was 131st (106th in scoring) in 27:42 and Orion Wenrich, who placed 141st (111th in scoring) in 27:54.8.

Sophomore Shelbi Burnett led Butler women with a seventh place individual finish (sixth on the scoring chart).  She  posted a final time of 21:23.31 on the 6K women's layout.  Junior Becky Howarth also posted a "Top 25" individual finish with a time of 22:01.88, good for 21st place (19th in scoring).

Senior Lauren Haberkorn came in 32nd (30th in scoring) in 22:18.22, while freshman Mara Olson finished 34th (32nd in scoring) in 22:20.04.  Butler's fifth runner was junior Alyson Fosnot, who placed 49th (46th in scoring) in 22:34.64.

Junior Kaitlyn Love, who finished 52nd (49th in scoring) in 22:40.02, and freshman Erica Carlson, who came in 75th (70th in scoring) in 22:58.98, completed Butler's top seven.

Missouri, with five runners in the Top 20, won the women's team title.
