Katie Clark, Mara Olson Earn Atlantic 10 Academic Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Junior Katie Clark and sophomore Mara Olson have been named to the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team, released by the conference office on Wednesday, Nov. 7.  The Academic All-Conference Team included six male and six female athletes who were selected based on their athletic achievement and their performance in the classroom.

Clark, a criminal justice major, was the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference women's individual champion this past season.  She won the conference meet with a time of 16:55.9.  She was named first team All-Conference in her first Atlantic 10 Conference Championship.

Olson, a biology major, placed fifth at the A-10 women's cross country championship with a time of 17;55.4.  She also earned first team All-Conference recognition in her first A-10 Championship.

The two scholar-athletes helped Butler capture the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Cross Country Championship.

To be nominated for the Atlantic 10 Cross Country Academic All-Conference Team, athletes must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for their entire academic career.  Freshmen are not eligible for the honor.
