Butler Sends Several Runners To Sycamore Pride Race

Freshman Adam Hill finished runner-up in the men's competition to lead a limited Butler cross country squad at the men's and women's Sycamore Pride Race, hosted by Indiana State on Saturday, Sept. 6. The Bulldogs were joined by Northwestern and Indiana State in the non-scoring meet.

Hill paced the Butler men with a time of 16:20.10 in the 5K men's race. He finished ten seconds behind individual champ Aaron Harding of Indiana State. Butler also picked up a "Top 10" individual finish from freshman Matt Dunham, who placed tenth in 17:57.7.

Rounding out the top five Bulldogs in the men's race were sophomore Rick Mick, who placed 11th in 17:18.8, senior Lennon Wicks, who came in 14th in 17:32, and sophomore Nathan Stopps, who wound up 25th in 21:33.

Butler had two runners entered in the women's competition. Sophomore Maria Beitel finished 14th in 15:47.40, while freshman Kara Henry came in 15th in 15:52.20. Jessica Crowder of Indiana State won the women's 4K race in 14:17.

The Sycamore Pride Race was held at La Vern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course, which will be the site of the 2003 NCAA Great Lakes Regional Meet.
