Ware, Hojnacki Pace Bulldogs At Indiana Intercollegiate Meet

Senior Chad Ware and sophomore Rachel Hojnacki were the top Butler finishers at the 2006 Indiana Intercollegiate cross country meet, held in Terre Haute, Ind., on Friday, Sept. 15. Butler finished 21st in the men's competition and 22nd in the women's race.

Ware crossed the finish line in 27:39.5 and wound up in 60th place for the Bulldogs. He was the lone Butler runner to finish among the top 100 runners. Senior Matt Dunham came in 126th in 29:14.4, while freshman Andy Barbeau finished 133rd in 29:26.6. Freshman Taylor Eaton placed 147th in 30:46, freshman Nick Zellmer was 151st in 31:11.9 and junior Dan Bardua came in 166th in 34:33.6. The field included a total of 201 runners.

Hojnacki topped Butler's women with a time of 21:08.4 and placed 103rd in a field of 211 competitors. Freshman Ashley Dick finished 126th in 21:59.2, freshman Erica Buster came in 141st in 22:25.8, junior Jenny Homan placed 144th in 22:28.7 and junior Aubrey Smith finished 147th in 22:41.1. Rounding out Butler's top seven runners were freshman Alyssa Burkhardt, who placed 149th in 22:46.3, and junior Kari Splitt, who wound up 165th in 23:50.6.

Indiana State placed first in the men's competition, while Indiana won the women's race.
