Alex Montagano
Coach Farley on Montagano: "Alex played several positions for us
last year in a utility role. He can catch, play the outfield or
play a corner infield position. His best tool is his bat. He makes
consistent hard contact and knows how to move runners. He is one of
the more vocal leaders on our team." 2008: Started in 23 of his 31
games played...batted .288 with a .412 on base percentage...hit
.349 in 16 Horizon League games...boasted a .417 on base percentage
against league foes...totaled six multi-hit games...went 5-for-11
(.455) with an RBI and four runs scored in a three-game series
against Wright State (April 11-12)...finished 4-for-12 (.333) with
four runs scored in a three-game set at Valparaiso (April
25-26)...2007: Started in 28 of his 35 games played...his .282
batting average is the third-best among returning players...posted
10 multi-hit games...went 2-for-3 with a double and three runs
scored against UIC (4/21)...went 4-for-6 in two games at
Valparaiso, notching a double, home run and five RBI...2006: Played
in 11 games, including four starts...went 2-for-2 in the first game
of a doubleheader against UIC before singling in his only at bat of
the second game (5/13)...went 1-for-2 with a run scored against
