Rick Betsch
Coach Farley on Betsch: "Rick has been through two shoulder surgeries in the past couple of seasons, which has limited his playing time for us. He has never complained about the tough luck that came his way, and he has worked incredibly hard to put himself back in position to start as either an outfielder or DH in his senior year. Rick is a respected leader on our team."
2008: Team leader with seven steals in nine attempts...started
in 24 of his 38 games played during the year...batted .284 with 12
RBI and 14 runs scored...boasted a .381 on base percentage and a
.343 slugging percentage...totaled seven multi-hit games...went
4-for-8 with an RBI and run scored in two games at Southern
Illinois (March 9-10)...had three hits at Valparaiso on April
25...went 3-for-4 with two runs scored against Cleveland State on
May 17...2007: Played in 33 games, starting in 21...finished third
on the team with a .310 batting average...tied for second on the
squad with five steals...fourth on the team with 22 hits...had six
multi-hit games...hit both of his home runs in the Horizon League
Tournament against Youngstown State (5/24)...went 1-for-2 with four
walks, three runs scored and three RBI against Huntington
(3/13)...finished 3-for-5 with three runs scored at IPFW
(5/9)...totaled four hits, three RBI and two runs scored against
Milwaukee (5/18)...2006: Played in 15 games his freshman season,
starting in five contests...collected three hits and scored a
run...walked four times...High School: Team captain at LaSalle High
School...batted .360 with 27 runs batted in, 32 runs scored and 12
stolen bases as a senior...honorable mention all-conference
linebacker on high school football team...earned two varsity
