Grant Fillipitch
Coach Farley on Fillipitch: "Grant was one of our top hitters
for much of last season. He'll start the spring as our No. 1 third
baseman and could also see action at shortstop or at first base. He
has the ability to hit for a high average and for power. His
teammates see him as a quiet leader on this team." 2008: Finished
his rookie season fourth on the team with a .275 batting
average...started in 35 of his 44 games played...tied for third
with eight doubles and three homers...ranked fifth with 18 RBI and
42 hits...his .386 slugging percentage was the fourth-best on the
squad...was the team's top hitter in non-league play, finishing
with a .288 batting average and 23 hits...tied the school record
with five hits in a game against Indiana Tech (April 8)...finished
with 11 multi-hit games...was 3-for-4 with a double and five RBI
against Wright State (April 11)...went 6-for-15 (.400) with two
homers, four runs scored and four RBI in a three-game series at
Valparaiso (April 25-26)...High School: Named to the all-conference
and all-area teams...played in the state all-star game...team
captain as a senior...Stevenson Showcase team representative and
area leadership conference representative...led team to state
tournament...helped two summer league teams to state
