Coach Farley on Hladek: "Nick was our No. 1 catching recruit
this year, and he looked very solid in the fall. He has excellent
arm strength, and he shows a lot of potential as a hitter. He
probably blocks the ball as well as any catcher we have. He'll see
plenty of action as the season gets started." High School:
Four-year letterwinner as a catcher for Crown Point High
School...earned all-state honorable mention as a senior...named to
the all-conference team...Post Tribune All-Area and Times First
Team All-Area...team captain...tabbed as the team's Defensive
MVP...team went 29-3 his junior season and 28-5 as a
senior...helped squad to sectional and regional championships three
seasons, including a Final Four appearance in 2008...head coach:
Steve Strayer...also lettered three seasons as a defensive end on
the football team...team went 31-4 during his three seasons,
earning conference championships all three years and a sectional
