Coach Farley on Letzter: "Mike does a great job behind the plate
handling our pitchers. He has a solid arm, and he was much improved
as a hitter this past fall. Our pitchers like throwing to him
because he gives a good, low target. Mike and Nick Hladek emerged
as our top two catchers during the fall season, and both will see
plenty of action as we get underway." 2008: Played in 36 games as a
freshman, including 27 starts...ranked in a third-place tie on the
team with three steals...finished tied for seventh on the squad
with 12 RBI...boasted a .339 on base percentage...had a six-game
hitting streak from March 10-29...totaled four multi-hit
games...went 3-for-5 with an RBI against Milwaukee (March
29)...homered and drove in three runs at Valparaiso (April
26)...High School: Earned all-area honors in 2006 and all-area
honorable mention honors in 2005...named to the all-conference team
in both 2005 and 2006...team MVP as a sophomore and junior...team
captain in 2007...Northwest Herald Player of the Week...three-year
varsity starter...also played football...named offensive player of
