Coach Farley on Matheson: "Tim got better as the fall season
progressed. He was a little tentative early, like many of the
freshmen. He got some big hits in the Butler World Series and
played with increased confidence. He gets a great jump in the
outfield and covers a lot of ground. He has the potential to be a
lead-off type guy in our offense and make things happen." High
School: Three-year letterwinner as an outfielder at Libertyville
High School...team captain...all-conference and all-area
honoree...batted .438 with three home runs, seven triples and 17
doubles as a senior...also went 34-for-34 in steals in 2008...led
his team to a 25-10 record as a senior and a 23-11 mark as a
junior...head coach: Jim Schurr...was also a running back on the
football team...two-year letterwinner...named to the academic
