INDIANAPOLIS - Ryan Wojciechowski, an all-region catcher from Marietta, Ga., has signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at Butler University. Wojciechowski will enroll at Butler in the fall of 2010.
Wojciechowski (Marietta, Ga./The Walker School) batted .426 while earning first team all-region and honorable mention All-Cobb County accolades as a junior in 2009. He led his high school team in doubles, slugging and was 2nd on the squad in home runs and RBIs.
"Ryan's best weapon is his bat," Butler head coach Steve Farley said. "We think he can come in and compete for a spot in our offensive lineup right away. On defense, he gives us depth behind the plate and he'll also get experience next fall at the corner infield positions.
"We are excited to add Ryan to our program."
Wojciechowski enjoyed a successful summer season, batting .398 for Team Georgia Baseball Academy. He led the team in home runs, slugging and on-base percentage while also ranking among the team's best in doubles and RBIs. Wojciechowski helped lead Team Georgia Baseball Academy to a 52-17 record. His summer coach is Chris McRaney.
Wojciechowski plans on majoring in actuarial science at Butler. He was also recruited by Penn State and Notre Dame.
Butler baseball opens its 2010 season Friday, Feb. 28 vs. NJIT at Wofford in South Carolina.
