Butler Fall World Series Knotted At 2-2

The Blue took Game 3 but the Gray rallied for a blowout win in Game 4 as the Butler Fall World Series is now tied 2-2. Game 5 of the best-of-seven will be played Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 7 p.m.

Sophomore Tim Matheson scored the winning run to help the Blue squad to a 2-1 extra-innings win over the Gray this past weekend in the Butler Fall World Series.

Matheson scored the run when junior first baseman Steve Darragh reached on an infield error. Junior Grant Fillipitch went 3-for-4 for the Blue, which was managed by student assistant Ryan Kruszka. Kruszka was filling in for assistant coach Jeff Brown, who was working for the Indianapolis Colts.

Junior outfielder Kevin Crane had a double to lead the Gray team.

The game was played with wooden bats.

In Game 4, the Gray bounced back for an easy 9-0 win, scoring five runs in the 2nd inning and four runs in the 5th. Junior infielder Luke Duncan went 4-for-4 for Gray and freshman Bobby Akin chipped in with two hits. Senior lefty Joe Ochs picked up the win.

The Gray is managed by volunteer assistant Bobby Segal.

Game 5 will be played Tuesday night at 7pm.
