Butler Baseball: 11 Bulldogs Announce Summer Assignments
With the 2011 season about to start, 11 players from the Butler baseball program have announced were they will play collegiate summer baseball. Bulldog players will compete all across the country.
"To me, one of the highlights of being a Division I baseball player is having the opportunity to play in a summer wooden bat collegiate league. The experience is kind of like being a minor league baseball player for the months of June and July," head coach Steve Farley said. "We can’t place everyone on our team, but most of our top players get an opportunity to compete in an NCAA-sanctioned league. Players stay with host families and compete against players from all regions of the country."
Three players - Radley Haddad, Chase Byerly and Jared Earle - will play in the Prospect League. Two players each will play in the Valley League (Nick Hladek, Billy Laing) and the Northwoods League (Jordan Goldschmidt, Kyle Kramp). Butler will also send players to the Coastal Plain, Florida Collegiate, Great Lakes and Chicago Suburban leagues.
"Past Butler players have helped their teams to championships in the Cape Cod League, Northwoods League, Jayhawk League, Valley League, Great Lakes League and others. A lot of college players have great memories from their summer league experience.”
