The Butler baseball team, fresh off an 8-5 win over Dayton, will host a four-game set vs. IPFW this weekend. The series starts with a single game Friday, March 9 at 3 p.m. at Bulldog Park.

BU hosts its first home series of the 2012 season against IPFW, who enters with a 2-7 record. The Bulldogs won their home opener on Tuesday afternoon with a come-from-behind victory over Dayton. The Flyers led 4-0 when BU made its comeback. The Bulldogs scored four times in the 5th inning to close the gap. With the game tied 5-5 in the 6th, Jack Dillon smacked a two-run double to give Butler a 7-5 lead. Butler scored an insurance run in the 7th.
First baseman Pat Gelwicks is the team's leading hitter with a .417 average. He also leads BU in hits (15), runs (10), slugging (.556) and on-base percentage (.512). Jimmy Risi, the team's other first baseman and designated hitter, is the team's top run producer with 10 RBIs.
Saturday's scheduled starter in the second game of the series is senior right-hander Dom Silvestri. Silvestri was an All-Horizon League pick was the team's Friday star last year. He has been sidelined after an injury this offseason but did throw one perfect inning vs. Dayton.
IPFW is led by Shane Trevino and Malcolm White. Trevino hits .368 and White is batting .296 with a team-high eight hits. IPFW's wins have come against Alabama A&M and SEMO.
The series against IPFW is in the midst of a homestand that will see Butler play 13 of 14 games at home. In addition to Dayton and IPFW, Valparaiso, Marian, Cincinnati and Wright State will be coming to Bulldog Park over the next two weeks.
