Western Kentucky Beats Butler

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Adam Levelle drove in six runs to lead Western Kentucky to a 13-1 win over Butler on Tuesday. WKU scored six runs in the first two innings to cruise past the Bulldogs, who posted a 4-1 record last week.

Lavelle hit two-run singles in the 1st and 5th innings as WKU pounded out 18 hits on the day. He finished 3-for-4 and also had an RBI fielder's choice. Blake Crabtree was 3-for-3 with two RBIs and four runs. Scott Wilcox also had three hits and two RBIs for the Hilltoppers.

Leading 7-1 heading into the 5th, WKU scored four times to break the game open. The Hilltoppers would add a run in the 7th and another in the 8th to provide the final margin.

BU's run came in the top of the 5th when junior Jack Dillon walked and scored on a groundout by freshman Michael Fries. The run was set up by a sac bunt by senior Griffin Richeson.

Junior Lucas Calderon had two hits for the Bulldogs, who were coming off wins against Dayton and IPFW last week. Freshman Eric Stout was the lone Bulldog pitcher to not allow a run. He pitched 1.1 innings of relief and scattered three hits.

BU (7-9) will play Wednesday, March 14 vs. Marian at Bulldog Park. First pitch is at 3 p.m. The Dawgs then open Horizon League play this weekend with a home series vs. Valparaiso.
