MILWAUKEE - Milwaukee took advantage of four Bulldog errors in a 16-4 win over the Butler baseball team on Saturday afternoon. Junior Jack Dillon led Butler with two hits.
The four miscues led to five unearned runs for the Panthers, who won two of three in the weekend series. An error in the outfield in the bottom of the 3rd resulted in two unearned runs as Milwaukee built a 7-3 lead.
Leading 8-3 in the 7th, UWM tacked on six runs to break the game open. Two more unearned runs followed in the bottom of the 8th.
Dillon had two singles, including an RBI hit to left in the top of the 3rd. He was the only Bulldog player to manage multiple hits. Junior Pat Gelwicks and sophomore Marco Caponi added RBI singles. Senior Mike Hoscheit doubled and scored in the 8th.
The key player for Milwaukee was relief pitcher Justin Jaquish, who pitched 4.1 innings for the win. He struck out five and allowed just one run as Milwaukee pulled away. Offensively, five Panthers had multiple RBIs on the day.
Butler will play at Victory Field Tuesday afternoon when it hosts Ball State. The game is set for 3 p.m. at the home of the Triple A Indianapolis Indians.
