DAYTON, Ohio - A day after a dramatic come-from-behind Butler win, three Wright State pitchers combined on a three-hitter as WSU beat BU 12-1 on Saturday. The Raiders and Bulldogs will conclude their series on Sunday afternoon.
BU trailed just 3-1 when Wright State plated five runs in the bottom of the 6th. But three runs was more than enough as WSU's Taylor Braun was strong on the mound. Braun worked 7.0 innings with no earned runs allowed and just three hits. He struck out five. Two relievers each threw a shutout inning.
Junior Pat Gelwicks walked three times for Butler. Beside Calderon scoring, Gelwicks was the only other Butler baserunner to reach third base.
Wright State pounded out 18 hits, with seven Raiders posting a multi-hit game. Zach Tanner went 4-for-5 with three runs and two RBIs.
The series finale in Dayton will begin Sunday, April 29 at 1 p.m. Freshman Eric Stout will start for the Bulldogs against Wright State's Cody Kopilchack.
