INDIANAPOLIS - Milwaukee pounded 20 hits and got a good pitching start from Cale Tassi to beat the Butler baseball team 14-5 on Saturday afternoon at Bulldog Park.

Leading 2-0, UWM posted four runs - all with two outs - in the top of the 2nd to take a 6-0 lead. That would be enough as Tassi gave 5.0 quality innings, striking out six and allowing two runs.

Junior Pat Gelwicks smacked an RBI double that scored freshman Austin Miller in the bottom of the 2nd to put the Bulldogs on the board. Miller showed good speed and heads-up baserunning on the play, scoring from first base. BU got another run when junior Radley Haddad doubled and scored in the 3rd.

Milwaukee scored three times in the top of the 5th to lead 9-2 and then continued to build its lead. Butler got three runs in the bottom of the 9th, with Miller pushing an RBI single through the infield and junior Jack Dillon stroking a two-run single.

Senior Griffin Richeson and Mike Hoscheit each had two hits for Butler. Hoscheit came off the bench after graduating in the morning and quickly had an RBI single in the 3rd inning.

There was a pre-game cermony honoring the late Bill Farber '80. There will be a plaque in his honor near home plate at Bulldog Park.

Butler and Milwaukee will conclude the series Sunday at noon. Senior Brad Schnitzer will start for BU opposite UWM's Mike Schneider.
