College Sports Madness Preseason All-Horizon League

A fairly new sports website, College Sports Madness, has listed its preseason All-Horizon League honorees. Bulldog players Dom Silvestri, Griffin Richeson, Mike Hoscheit and Pat Gelwicks were recognized.

CSM tabbed Silvestri as one of three first-team pitchers. Richeson, Hoscheit and Gelwicks were also listed as preseason all-league second-teamers.

Silvestri, a senior righty starting pitcher, returns for his fifth season at BU after posting an All-Horizon League performance last season. Silvestri was last season's Friday starter and went 6-5 with a 4.07 ERA. He made 13 starts and led the Dawgs with 86.1 innings pitched.

Richeson, a senior shortstop, batted .308 last season while scoring 18 runs. He played in 40 games and started 33. Defensively, Richeson was second on the team with 76 assists. Hoscheit emerged last year as the team's staring rightfielder. The senior batted .302 with 13 extra-base hits and 27 RBIs. He scored 42 runs in 2011 and had an on-base percentage of .398. Gelwicks, a left-handed junior who plays DH and first base, started 19 games last year and batted .313.

Butler, which finished 23-28-1 last season, returns five starting position players and 11 pitchers from last season's team. The Bulldogs will begin the 2012 season Friday, Feb. 17 at Fresno State. CLICK HERE to view BU's 2012 baseball schedule.
