Before Butler: Played at Iowa Lakes Community College for two seasons...went 5-5 with a 3.18 ERA in 56.2 innings as a sophomore in 2012...struck out 72 against 27 walks...was named to Iowa Lakes Dean's List in all four semesters.

High School: All-state and all-star selection as high school senior in 2010...two-time All-Mid State Conference honoree...went 8-1 as a senior with a 2.20 ERA and 101 strikeouts...named all-conference in cross country three times and all-state twice...also played two seasons of varsity basketball at Staples-Motley...high school baseball coach was John Riewer.

Personal: Son of Joan Batcher and Jeff Johnson...math major.
