ATLANTA, Ga. - Slugging first baseman Jimmy Risi went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs but the Butler baseball team lost 17-9 at Georgia State.
Risi smacked his second home run of the weekend - and 14th of his BU career - in the bottom of the 2nd. Soon, the Bulldogs would fall behind 7-2.
The Panthers were led by Chase Raffield, who homered and drove in four runs. Five other Georgia State players had at least two hits.
The game's big inning came in the bottom of the 2nd and 7th for Georgia State. Raffield's 3-run homer was the big blast in giving the Panthers a 13-2 lead. The Panther scored four runs in both the 2nd and 7th innings.
Butler's offense came alive in a four-run 7th inning. Butler was down 17-6 before scoring three runs in the 9th.
The Bulldogs and Panthers finish their three-game weekend Sunday, Feb. 17. Lefty Kevin Lenkman is scheduled to start for Butler.
