Eric Stout Named Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week

Eric Stout

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Sophomore lefty Eric Stout was tabbed Atlantic 10 Pitcher of the Week after tossing a one-hitter against IPFW. It's Stout's first career honor at Butler.

The Glen Ellyn, Ill., native tossed the 23rd one-hitter in Butler baseball history when he beat IPFW 1-0 on Saturday. He went the distance in the game scheduled for seven innings, striking out four and walking three. Junior Marco Caponi scored the game-winning run against the Mastodons. It was all Stout would need in the game that lasted just 77 minutes.

Stout is 2-2 in four starts this season. He has pitched 22.0 innings and is holding opposing batters to a .229 batting average.

Stout and the Bulldogs are at Arizona - the 2012 College World Series champion - this week. They conclude the spring break week in Ypsilanti, Mich., against Northern Kentucky and Eastern Michigan.
