Cookeville, Tenn. - A three-run first inning by Tennessee Tech would be all it would need, as Butler fell to the Golden Eagles, 7-2, on Saturday (March 15) evening at Bush Stadium.
TTU collected 17 hits in the contest while allowing the Bulldogs just five.
The Golden Eagles plated three runs on six hits in the opening frame - all with two outs - before adding another run in the second and two in the third to take an early 6-0 advantage.
Butler broke the shut-out with two down in the sixth, as Joe Pauley ripped his first home run of the season and the team's second of the year on a drive over the left field fence.
Pauley would plate the Bulldogs' second run in the ninth, leading off with a walk before coming all the way around on a pair of wild pitches.
Jeff Sinkiewicz came out of the bullpen to stop the Tennessee Tech offense, scattering six hits and striking out two while allowing just one run in 4.1 innings of relief.
Butler closes the three-game series at Tennessee Tech on Sunday (March 16) beginning at 2:00 p.m.
