Sophomore Clayton Deeb had four hits and drove in three runs to help Butler to a 13-10 non-league victory over Marian at Kaufman Field in Indianapolis on Wednesday, April 21. The win lifted Butler to 18-18 on the season, and extended the Bulldogs' current win streak to three straight games.

Butler unleashed 17 hits on a pair of Marian pitchers. In addition to Deeb's output, sophomores Scott McGuigan and Mike Rosen and freshmen Aaron Thompson and Tony Barnes each added two hits apiece to the Butler assault. Junior Matt Martino slammed his first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the rightfield wall to spark the Bulldogs' seven-run fourth inning.

Butler jumped to a 9-0 lead and held a 13-2 lead, before the host Knights battled back with eight runs off of three different Butler pitchers.

Head coach Steve Farley used seven different pitchers in the contest, with senior starter Ryan Chenoweth picking up his first win in three decisions this season. Sophomore Luke Behning pitched the Bulldogs out of a bases-loaded and one out situation in the eighth inning by striking out consecutive batters, and then he finished the ninth inning after allowing two runs.

The Bulldogs return to Horizon League play with a four-game series against Youngstown State at Bulldog Park, Friday-Sunday, April 23-25.
