Indianapolis, Ind. - The Bulldog baseball team will hold a hospitality event during the Butler men's basketball game against UIC on Friday, Feb. 13, in the West Gym at Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for alumni, parents and fans that have a ticket to the basketball game, which tips at 7:00 p.m. The event will also be open during halftime of the game.
The baseball coaching staff and senior players will be on hand to preview the 2009 season at the hospitality event, which will feature a cash bar as well as snacks.
Baseball Adds Two New Assistants
The Butler baseball team added a pair of new assistants to its staff for 2009. Former professional player Eric Riggs joins the squad as an assistant coach, while former area stand-out Craig Lacy will serve as the team's administrative assistant.
Riggs, a native of Brownsburg, Ind., was a scholarship baseball and basketball player at Central Florida from 1995-98 before being selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1998 Major League Amateur Draft. He went on to play 10 seasons in the Dodgers, Houston Astros and Florida Marlins systems before retiring in 2008. Riggs earned his Bachelor's Degree in business administration from Central Florida and currently resides in Fishers, Ind., with his wife.
Lacy, originally brought on to the Butler staff as an assistant coach, moves to an administrative assistant position. A former catcher at Bishop Chatard High School in Indianapolis, he recently graduated from Dayton with a degree in marketing in 2008.
