Butler Completes 2013-14 Men’s Basketball Roster
Butler men’s basketball coach Brad Stevens put the finishing touches on his 2013-14 roster with the addition of central Indiana players Michael Volovic and Steven Bennett. The two freshmen are currently enrolled in summer school at Butler and both will join the Bulldogs on the team’s exhibition trip to Australia in August.

Butler Players Compete At Portsmouth Invitational
Seniors Rotnei Clarke and Andrew Smith were among 64 collegiate seniors who participated in the four-day, 12-game Portsmouth Invitational Tournament in Portsmouth, Va., April 10-13. The annual tournament is a showcase event played in front of representatives from every National Basketball Association (NBA) team and numerous scouts from international leagues.

Butler center Andrew Smith has been named second team on the 2012-13 Men’s Basketball Senior CLASS Award All-American Team. He was one of ten Division I basketball players honored as first or second team Senior CLASS Award All-Americans.

Matthew Graves Named Head Coach At South Alabama
Associate Head Coach Matthew Graves is departing Butler University after 17 years in the basketball program as a player, staff member and coach. Graves was introduced as the new men’s basketball head coach at South Alabama at a press conference in Mobile, Ala., on Monday, March 25.

Marquette Ends Butler’s NCAA Bid
It came down to a final shot for the second straight meeting, but this time Marquette survived with a 74-72 victory over Butler in the third round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship at Rupp Arena on Saturday, March 23. The outcome left the Bulldogs with a 27-9 final record.

Butler has advanced to the third round the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship and will meet Marquette at Rupp Arena on Saturday, March 23. The sixth-seeded Bulldogs, who won their second round game against 11th-seeded Bucknell, will meet third-seeded Marquette at approximately 7:45 p.m. (ET).

Seniors Rotnei Clarke and Andrew Smith helped lead Butler to a 47-point second half and Butler held off Bucknell to post a 68-56 victory in the second round of the 2013 NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship at Rupp Arena on Thursday, March 21. Junior Dwayne Evans scored 16 of his game-high 24 points in the second half and helped carry top-seeded Saint Louis to a 67-56 victory over Butler in the semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Basketball Championship on Saturday (March 16). The loss ended the Bulldogs’ run in their first A-10 Tournament at the Barclays Center.

The U.S. Basketball Writers Association has selected Butler forward Roosevelt Jones as its Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week for games ending the week of Sunday, Jan. 20. The USBWA’s weekly honor is presented by Blue Ribbon College Basketball Yearbook and will be handed out each Tuesday through Feb. 19 this season.
