Kellen Dunham Named A-10 Rookie of the Week
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Freshman Kellen Dunham, who turned in a red-hot shooting performance in Butler's two conference games last week, has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week for the fourth time. The weekly award, for games played Jan. 21-27, was released by the conference office on Monday (Jan. 28).
Dunham, a 6-6 guard from Pendleton, Ind., averaged 16.0 points and shot 80% from beyond the three-point arc in the Bulldogs' games against La Salle and Temple. He had 15 points, four rebounds and three assists in Butler's last-second loss at La Salle, and then he came back with 17 points, four rebounds, one assist and one steal in the Bulldogs' home victory over Temple.
The first-year Butler player hit six of 11 shots at La Salle, including three of four from three-point range, and six of 10 shots against Temple, including five of six from long-range.
In Butler's last three games, Dunham has hit 12 of 18 (.667) three-point field goal attempts.
Dunham previously was named A-10 Rookie of the Week for his performance in Butler's season-opener against Elon (Nov. 12), after Butler's wins over IUPUI and Northwestern (Dec. 10) and following the Bulldogs' victory at Vanderbilt (Dec. 31).
Butler faces two more A-10 games this week, starting with a trip to Saint Louis on Thursday, Jan. 31. The Bulldogs will return home to host Rhode Island on Saturday, Feb. 2, at 4 p.m. (ET).
