Butler To Face Washington State At Old Spice Classic

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler will open play at the 2013 Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Fla., against Washington State on Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 28).  The Bulldogs will face the Pac-12 foe at 2 p.m. (ET), in the second game of the opening round.

The Butler-Washington State contest is one of four first-round games in the eight-team tournament, being held at HP Field House at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex on Thanksgiving weekend.  Other first round games will pit Oklahoma State against Purdue at noon, Memphis against Siena at 6:30 p.m. and LSU against Saint Joseph's at 8:30 p.m.  All four of the first round games will be carried on ESPN2.

Butler's second-round foe on Friday, Nov. 29, will be either Oklahoma State or Purdue.  The tournament will conclude on Sunday, Dec. 1, with the championship game slated for 7:30 p.m., on ESPN2.

The Bulldogs, under first-year head coach Brandon Miller, return three starters and seven other letterwinners from last year's 27-9 squad, which advanced to the third round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship.  Butler's 27 wins last season tied the fifth-highest single season total in school history.  The Bulldogs were ranked in the "Top 25" for 11 consecutive weeks, reaching as high as No. 9 in both major polls.

The Old Spice Classic, owned and operated by ESPN Regional Television (ERT), began in 2006.  The family-friendly tournament is a weekend-long affair at the Walt Disney World Resort, where participating teams practice, play and enjoy the Walt Disney World Resort Theme Parks.  Travel packages are available for fans and include resort accommodations at the team hotel, game tickets, theme park tickets and much more.  Visit Anthony Travel.com/OSC or call 888-632-6951 for reservation information.
