Dunham, Chrabascz Earn All-BIG EAST Honors

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler's duo of Kellen Dunham and Andrew Chrabascz were among 23 players honored on the 2013-14 All-BIG EAST Team, released by the conference office on Sunday, March 9.  The all-conference team was chosen by a vote of league head coaches.

Dunham, who leads the Bulldogs and ranks seventh in the conference in scoring, was named second team All-BIG EAST.  The 6-6 guard has started all 30 Butler games this season and ranks among the conference leaders in scoring (16.8), three-point field goals (78), free throw shooting (.810) and minutes played (36.0).  He earned BIG EAST Player of the Week honors once this season, and he was named to the league's weekly honor roll one additional time.

Chrabascz, a freshman from Portsmouth, R.I., earned a spot on the six-player BIG EAST All-Rookie Team.  He's played in all 30 Butler games this season, including nine of the last 10 as a starter.  The 6-7 forward is averaging 6.2 points and 3.0 rebounds, while shooting .521 from the field.

The All-BIG EAST first team included Doug McDermott of Creighton, Markel Starks of Georgetown, Bryce Cotton of Providence, D'Angelo Harrison of St. John's, James Bell of Villanova and Semaj Christon of Xavier.  Joining Dunham on the second team were D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera of Georgetown, Davante Gardner of Marquette, Kadeem Batts of Providence, Fuquan Edwin of Seton Hall and JayVaughn Pinkston of Villanova.

Ethan Wragge of Creighton, Ryan Arcidiacono of Villanova, Darrun Hilliard of Villanova and Matt Stainbrook of Xavier earned honorable mention all-conference honors.

The All-Rookie team was made up of Chrabascz, Billy Garrett Jr. of DePaul, Tommy Hamilton IV of DePaul, Deonte Burton of Marquette, Rysheed Jordan of St. John's, Jaren Sina of Seton Hall and Josh Hart of Villanova.

The BIG EAST will announce the conference Player of the Year, along with the league's Coach of the Year, Rookie of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year on Wednesday, March 12.  The announcement will be made on the first day of the BIG EAST Championship Presented by NEW YORK LIFE at Madison Square Garden at 4:30 p.m.

Butler will begin play in the BIG EAST Tournament at Madison Square Garden against Seton Hall at 7 p.m. (ET) on Wednesday.
