INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler guard Kellen Dunham will join current and former collegiate athletes from across the United States on a basketball touring team with Athletes in Action later this month.  The team will assemble in late July and then embark on a 12-day basketball tour of the Philippines.

Among those participating on the team with Dunham will be Alex Caruso of Texas A & M, Traevon Jackson of Wisconsin, Toddrick Gotcher of Texas Tech, Demonte Flannigan and Aaron Scales, both from Cleveland State, Lotanna Nwogbo and Quincy Taylor, both from Longwood and Jerome Hill of Gardner-Webb.  The team will be led by veteran AIA coach Morris Michalski.
"This is a tremendous international opportunity for Kellen," said Butler head coach Brandon Miller.  "He was excited about the invitation to play, and I know he is really anxious to get started.  Kellen is committed to growing as a player and a person, and we think this opportunity will help him continue in that process."

Dunham had a breakout season with the Bulldogs in 2013-14, leading the team in scoring (16.4), three-point field goals (78), free throw shooting (.803) and minutes played (36.1).  He posted the fifth-highest sophomore scoring total in Butler history, and he compiled the Bulldogs' second-highest sophomore total for three-point field goals.  He earned second team recognition on the 2013-14 All-BIG EAST Team.

The AIA team will gather in Dayton, Ohio, on July 18 for a five-day training camp before heading overseas on July 23.  Eight games are scheduled over the 12-day span, including contests against the top three collegiate teams in the Philippines and three professional teams from the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA).  One of the PBA teams on the schedule is owned by world-champion boxer Manny Pacquiao.  The AIA team will return to the U.S. on August 5.

In addition to the games, AIA basketball camps for kids and AIA basketball clinics for coaches will be held.  The AIA team will conduct hospital and orphanage visits and will deliver physical aid (shoes, sports equipment, medical supplies, games and food) for the needy throughout the tour.

Athletes in Action is the sports branch of Campus Crusade for Christ International.  AIA's outreach range includes ministry to college and professional athletes and coaches globally across a great number of sports.  International competing teams partner with in-country staff and other mission organizations to resource Christian ministry around the world.

AIA has sent touring teams to the Philippines for over 30 years.
