DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Duane Lightfoot scored 17 of his career-high 23 points in the second half Thursday night as Butler built a double-digit lead and held on for an 81-70 victory over Wright State.
Butler (14-1, 4-0 Horizon League) used an 11-4 spurt midway through the second half to pull ahead by 10, then refused to let Wright State (7-8, 1-4) get closer than eight points the rest of the way.
The Bulldogs have won four in a row, going 4-0 in league play for the first time since 1990-91.
Lightfoot, a junior forward, made nine of his 10 shots from the field, extending his streak of accurate shooting. In his last seven games, Lightfoot has gone 33-of-44 (75 percent) from the field.
Seth Doliboa scored 25 points and Vernard Hollins and Braden Bushman added 17 apiece for Wright State. Doliboa leads the league in scoring with a 22.9 average, while Hollins is second at 19.6 per game.
Doliboa and Hollins had 11 points apiece in the first half, which ended with Butler ahead 35-32. It stayed close until Joel Cornette had a dunk and another basket that completed the 11-4 run and put Butler up 59-49.
Lightfoot had 13 points in the final 7:57 to prevent Wright State from getting closer than eight. Five of his points came on free throws.
Butler's Darnell Archey scored eight points and made both of his free throws, extending his Division I record to 84 consecutive free throws made. Archey hasn't missed a free throw since Feb. 8, 2001, with his record streak spanning 56 games.
Archey has made 108 of his last 109 free throw attempts.
