CLEVELAND (AP) - A.J. Graves, who had earlier missed two free throws, made two with 5 seconds left to clinch Butler's 55-51 victory over Cleveland State on Wednesday night.
The Bulldogs (10-8, 3-3 Horizon League) led 34-25 at the half and were on top 53-46 with 1:50 left before Cleveland State (8-10, 4-4) made a final run.
Ije Nwankwo's layup and a 3-pointer by Raheem Moss cut the lead to 53-51 with 34 seconds left. Graves had missed two foul shots with 41 seconds left immediately before Moss' shot behind the arc.
Butler turned the ball over on its next possession before Moss missed another 3-pointer with 7 seconds remaining. Graves was fouled on the rebound and hit both to put the game out of reach.
Brandon Polk led Butler with 29 points and 11 rebounds, with Graves adding nine points, seven rebounds and three assists.
Nwankwo was the only Viking in double figures with 10 points, with Frashon McGee grabbing 10 rebounds.
