CHICAGO (AP) - Bruce Horan had a career-high 22 points and led a second-half barrage of 3-point shooting to give Butler a 74-67 overtime victory Saturday over Loyola of Chicago.
Horan hit 6-of-12 3-point attempts, and the Bulldogs were 11-of-26 overall from behind the arc.
Loyola (7-15, 3-9 Horizon League) scored the final seven points of the first half to take a 29-22 lead at intermission, but Horan drilled back-to-back 3-pointers to open the second half. Butler (11-10, 5-6) hit eight 3-point shots in the second half.
The Bulldogs appeared to have a safe 59-50 lead with 2:51 left, but Demetrius Williams hit two free throws, and DaJuan Gouard had one 3-pointer and Paul McMillan added two to pace a Loyola comeback.
Gouard sent the game into overtime on a layup with 2.8 seconds left.
Horan gave the Bulldogs their final lead with a 3-pointer with 1:54 left in overtime. He and Mike Monserez each added two free throws for Butler's final margin.
Duane Lightfoot had 14 points for Butler and Monserez was also in double figures with 10. McMillan led Loyola with 15, while Williams added 14.
