CHICAGO (AP) - David Bailey had 21 of his game-high 25 points in the second half as Loyola of Chicago beat Horizon League leader Butler, 73-63, Thursday night.
Bailey and Terrance Whiters led a Rambler outburst midway through the second half as Loyola scored nine unanswered points to break a 47-47 tie.
Butler never led again, although the Bulldogs cut Loyola's lead to 56-55 on a 3-pointer by Brandon Miller with 5:30 left. Butler scored only two field goals after that.
Joel Cornette paced Butler, scoring 16 points in the first half but adding only two more after the intermission.
Butler's two top scorers, Miller and Darnell Archey, were held to a combined 12 points by Loyola's defense.
Duane Lightfoot was in double figures for Butler with 12 points.
Whiters finished with 14 points, including a 3-pointer and a fast break basket off a steal that keyed Loyola's second-half outburst.
Corey Minnifield had a double-double for Loyola with 12 points and 11 rebounds.
The victory pushed Loyola's record to 11-14, and evened the Rambler's league record at 6-6. Butler fell to 18-4 overall and 8-2 in conference play.
