Bulldogs Win Streak Snapped At Detroit

DETROIT (AP) - Ryvon Coville had a career-high 19 points and six rebounds to lead Detroit Mercy to a 54-48 win over Butler on Saturday.

Rulon Harris hit all four of his free-throw attempts in the last 24 seconds to help Detroit (13-10, 7-6 Horizon League) secure its fourth consecutive win. Harris had seven points and had six assists in the game.

The Bulldogs (11-12, 6-7) led most of the game but managed just one field goal in the last four minutes.

Mike Monserez had a chance to tie it up with 25 seconds to play, but his running jump shot bounced off the front of the rim.

The loss ended Butler's three-game winning streak.

Coville, whose previous best game also was against the Bulldogs, made eight of his nine field-goal attempts and was 3-for-3 at the free-throw line. He scored 10 of the Titans first 11 second-half points and helped Detroit outscore Butler 26-16 in the paint.

Bruce Horan, who hit three 3-pointers in the first five minutes of the game, led the Bulldogs with 15 points.

Avery Sheets and Duane Lightfoot added 11 and 10, respectively. Lightfoot also pulled down eight rebounds.
