One of the more memorable moments in Butler basketball history will be replayed to a national television audience when the Bulldogs' victory over Gonzaga in the 2006 NIT Season Tip-Off is broadcast on ESPNU's Cram Session. The game will be featured on the national network on July 21.
The Butler-Gonzaga game will be part of a day-long Dog Days of Summer feature on Cram Session. The programming features schools that have dogs as their mascot. The NIT Season Tip-Off championship game is scheduled to be broadcast at 6 p.m. (ET).
Butler defeated Gonzaga, 79-71, at Madison Square Garden in New York to capture the NIT Season Tip-Off title. The victory completed a four-game run that saw the Bulldogs also defeat Notre Dame, Indiana and Tennessee. The championship helped propel Butler into the national polls, and the Bulldogs went on to be ranked for a school and Horizon League record 16 consecutive weeks.
Butler senior forward Drew Streicher will be a featured participant in the Stories on the Lawn program at Warren Library on Monday, July 16. Streicher, who helped lead the Butler basketball team to a 29-7 record last season, will read stories to a group of children (age 2-6) from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., on the front lawn of the Library. Striecher was a first team Horizon League Academic All-League selection in 2005-06 and in 2006-07.
