Bulldogs Post Most Football Wins Since 1997
Butler ended the 2008 football season with its most victories and first winning record more than a decade. The resurgent Bulldogs closed with a 6-5 overall mark, which included a five-game winning streak, and a 4-4 record in the Pioneer Football League. The six wins tied the second-highest single season total at Butler since the Bulldogs moved from the NCAA Division II to the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision in 1993. Butler, picked to finish in a tie for seventh in the PFL in a preseason poll of league coaches, wound up tied for fourth in the final league standings, and the Bulldogs defeated the other two fourth place squads (Drake and Morehead State). Butler's last winning record was a 6-4 mark in 1997, while the team's Division I record for wins was set in 1994 when the Bulldogs posted a 7-3 record.
