Bulldogs Name Football Captains

Seniors Dan Bohrer and Spencer Summerville have been named team captains for the 2009 Butler football squad.  The duo, both starters in all 11 Butler games a year ago, were chosen by a vote of their teammates.

Bohrer, a wide receiver, was th second-leading pass catcher in the Pioneer Football League last fall.  He finished the 2008 campaign with 71 receptions for 971 yards and a school-record 11 touchdowns.  A second team All-PFL pick, Bohrer enters his final season needing just two catches to tie Butler’s all-time record of 142, held by Eric Voss (1990-93).

Summerville, a safety, earned honorable mention All-PFL recognition in 2008, while ranking second on the team in tackles with 66.  He also ranked second on the team in kickoff returns (11) and kickoff return yards (269).  A three-year regular, Summerville has been named to the PFL All-Academic squad for two consecutive years.
